Dieting vs. Recovery

12 Steps of Recovery | Blog for Women with Food Addiction | Food | Food Addiction | Lifestyle | Sugar Addiction | Use Food as a companion

What is recovery and what does it have to do with food? I’m glad you asked! For the perpetual dieter, food controller, and addictive eater, recovery means living  free from the grip of addictive eating or the constant control of food.

Recovery allows you to live an enjoyable life without using food as a drug. You are no longer compelled to eat over feelings, emotions, and circumstances.

If you have any issues with constantly eating, controlling your food, binging or forever dieting, consider recovery.

Benefits of Recovery

There are so many benefits to being in recovery. In recovery, you have tools to combat those times when you are tempted to grab food for any reason. It helps you to respond sanely to life’s challenges instead of reacting negatively. Instead of moving through life in a food fog, you will have clear thinking.

Recovery also gets you on the path to living a life that’s not dependent on food. As a result, you get to live in a normal size body and wear clothes that you look great in! There are much more benefits to living a life in recovery that I can’t list them all!

Keep Food in Perspective

Food is such an integral part of our lives. We must learn how to use it and to keep it in its right perspective. Food is fuel. And I also believe that it should be enjoyable.

I’m not one of those people who believe food should be bland! Season your food! It should taste good, look good and be good for you!

We have so many good seasonings available to us like, garlic, smoked paprika, onion, salt, pepper, natural soy sauce, chili peppers, oregano, cumin, and much more!

Recovery works for a lifetime. It is a way of life that I wish everyone could experience. It challenges you to live a life of integrity, gratitude, encouragement, and of surrender to God for strength and direction.

Now that you know what recovery has to do with food, you may want to consider living your life in recovery. Stop struggling with diets, once and for all! For more information, check out my resource page.
